About

What this website offers Craft Assortment is a personal website containing a broad based assortment of guidance notes prepared by the site author and covering miscellaneous topics relating to Craft Masonry as regulated under the English Constitutions.

About the author The author is a Past Master of his Lodge and is a Provincial Grand Officer with Past ranking, having thoroughly enjoyed over 35 years of participation in Craft Masonry.

The author has always exercised a natural desire to conduct research and improve his own understanding of the Fraternity. He now feels the time is right to share some of his accumulated knowledge and experience and hopefully help others. He has previously provided guidance papers for his own Lodge and Masonic friends. This website will now potentially extend his work to a wider audience, providing others with straight forward access to a means of advancing their own knowledge.

Options to improve knowledge The author would be the first to acknowledge that there are now many excellent educational materials available from the Grand Lodge, Provincial Grand Lodges, private Lodges and through other respected writers, websites, lectures and presentations. This personal website is offering just another option as a source to help others in their own quest for information and self-development.

Views and opinions Where this website offers any views, opinions, thoughts or interpretations, these are on behalf of the author or will reflect what seem to be the most commonly held beliefs amongst others, based upon general research conducted. This website is not necessarily representing all Freemasons or any Masonic Lodge or other Masonic organisation.

Can Craft Assortment help you? Certain of the author’s guidance notes are aimed at those who might be thinking about joining and assisting with the application process. He does also particularly have in mind the existing Mason who is in the early stages of his travels through the Craft and the journeyman Mason who is now ready and keen to know more. Some of the guidance also has in mind any Mason who may simply need some guidance towards solving a query or problem, be it administrative or otherwise.

Lodge talks Some of the documents produced will lend themselves to forming the basis of a Lodge talk or other educational materials. Many individual topics are dealt with in manageable chunk sizes, which can be used to fill a little reading time or a few minutes in Lodge, or can be collected together to form a larger presentation.

Finding time for self-development The author recognises that for the modern Mason, or prospective Mason, the pressures and demands of life in today’s world leave limited time for individuals to make in-depth studies or conduct copious research of their own and is therefore hoping to help by sharing what he has been able to acquire through his own Masonic ‘career’.

Providing tasters and tempting more research Through this website the author attempts to cover the various topics examined in sufficient depth to give the reader an adequate flavour and understanding of the subject matter, without always going to the immense depths to which some subjects may lend themselves.  There are invaluable study papers and writings that are available in the public domain to satisfy any thirst to know more. What the reader finds from the Craft Assortment website may satisfy an appetite for knowledge or may spark an appetite for further digging.

The ultimate aim If readers find an occasional topic paper on this website that helps them in satisfying a desire to know more or improve their own input and understanding, then the author will be very happy.
